Expert: Nasya Newport

Nasya fell in love with sewing when she was five years old. Taught by her Grandmother who’s mother had taught her, Nasya always believed that sewing was a part of her DNA.

Originally from Colorado, Nasya came to NYC to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) where she received her BFA in Fashion Design, specializing in Special Occasion and Bridal. Nasya honed her craft while freelancing and interning at J. Mendel and Zac Posen. Working at these luxury companies provided her with useful and practical knowledge for succeeding in the industry as well as being an incubator for thought provoking inspiration.

Encouraged by friends to teach sewing to other fashion-forward sewing enthusiasts in NYC, Nasya became an instructor at The Sewing Studio New York, where she eventually rose to Studio Director. Nasya noticed a niche of sewing enthusiasts and fashion designers and founded The Haute Hive to serve as the single sewing destination for private sewing lessons, custom sewing projects and design business consulting.
