Every sew who has sewn a classic men’s or women’s blouse has run into sewing a shirt cuff with pleats. It is a staple in classic shirt-wear, but it doesn’t have to be the most difficult thing to sew! Once your placket or bound slit is sewn in place the application of a cuff can still be tricky. You need to think about the pleats in the sleeve as well as making sure the cuff is sewn neatly sewn (because we all love to roll our cuffs up). In this video Meg will walk you through the technique of laying and basting pleats as well as ‘sandwiching’ the sleeve edge in between the cuff edges so that you get a nice finished seam both on the right and wrong side of the garment.
