Burda Style Sew-Along: Glam Dress

About this Sew-Along:

Here comes the highlight of the season: the retro model with wide neckline ruffles from Burda fashions 1975 is particularly dreamy due to the fluttering viscose fabric. It even fits for every occasion: being on vacation, birthdays and weddings…

Just because it’s glam doesn’t mean it has to be difficult to make yourself! This season is calling for all things maxi-length and this fabulous and glamorous dress is the perfect silhouettes to sew up for your next special occasion. What really makes this style special is the fluttering flounce that both finishes the crossover neckline and provides coverage to the shoulders. If you are intimidated by the difficult to work with lightweight fabric that make this dress truly shine, then not to worry because instructor Meg Healy will cover tips and tricks on the best way to deal with these fabrics for a truly professional looking dress.

Meg will cover every sewing step to make this style including the bias finishes, pleats, crossover bodice, invisible zipper, and even how to adapt your serger for a perfect rolled hem. The pattern is included in this sew-along with an additional of a plus size style pattern that has just as much glam! Admiring glances guaranteed for the plus size maxi dress without being too formal, and instead of a zipper closure with sewn in wrap style – this pattern wraps around the body for maximum adaptability and comfort.

"I am so excited - this was my first attempt at a Burda Style pattern and my first sew-along with Meg. I was so inspired. Meg’s tutorials were well thought out and easy to understand. I received so many complements on my finished dress - can’t wait to make another one. *There was one section that could use some detailed explaining - the pleats in the skirt front/back read very differently in the written instructions. I understood what you did, but you went so fast... I could have used a more in-depth look at that step to clear up any confusion."

Great idea to use half scale for the instructions. Don't remember that in the previous sewalongs. Meg did an excellent job as always. Thanks for the variety of garments used.
